“We should give as we would receive: cheerfully, quickly, and without hesitation; for there is no grace in a benefit that sticks to the fingers.”—Seneca

Sometimes the greatest acts of kindness go unnoticed but they are often some of the greatests sacrifices.
Check 'em out! People around the world are tired of seeing all the NekNomination (drinking game) videos and people doing stupider and stupider very dangerous things. Now, there is an alternative - RAKnomination - where people do rando acts of kindness instead.
Click here to check it out 1 - walk a friend's pet
2 - Pet-sit for a friend 3 - Make nutritional treats for pets 4 - Adopt from a pet shelter 5 - Hang up a bird-feeder 6 - Make a birdbath One of my fav easy act of kindness is feeding parking meters in a busy area. It's great for those people who's meter is empty or about to run out. It's also nice for those who park and don't have any change for the meter. And even if they do it puts a smile on their face.
Meter feeding has triple power! 1. Hold a door open for someone 2. Put change in an expired parking meter 3. Send someone a hand-written card 4. Wave to a neighbour 5. Pick up litter in your neighbourhood or anywhere 7. Clean a seniors walk or yard 8. Help someone start a Facebook page or even a website 9. Invite someone who lives alone out for lunch Ann Curry of NBC news wrote on Twitter
Newtown's heartbreak has a lot of us asking, "What can I do?" Thinking about this, I took to Twitter and asked people to imagine what would happen if all of us committed to 20 acts of kindness to honor each child lost in Newtown. I added, "I'm in. If you are, RT #20Acts. http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2012/12/18/15999109-if-you-do-good-youll-feel-good-ann-curry-explains-origins-of-26acts-of-kindness?lite How hard is it to say; please, thank you or excuse me? It's not! It's just that we get so caught up with the stuff of life that we sometimes forget how important it is to be polite.
Do you open doors for people? Do you allow people in the grocery store with one item to go ahead of you? Do you give your seat to someone who needs it on a bus or let someone take the first cab? Imagine what a different world we would be living in if we all practised a little more politeness & courtesy. If you want to have a different world.....BE THE EXAMPLE! It's the kind thing to do. So, do it! You'll make someone feel special...in fact you'll feel better about yourself as well. How many acts of kindness will you perform TODAY?
Here are a few ideas: 1 - Pay the toll for the driver behind you. 2 - Offer to pick up groceries for an elderly neighbor, especially in extreme weather 3 - Put a coin in an expired meter 4 - Help a mother carry her baby stroller up the subway stairs, or hold a door open for her 5 - Surprise someone with a cup of coffee 6 - Let a fellow driver merge into your lane 7 - Return your shopping cart to the cart station 8 - Forgive someone a debt–and never bring it up again 9 - Throw away your trash—and someone else's—after a movie, picnic or visit to a park 10 - Share your smile with everyone you meet today! |
