“We should give as we would receive: cheerfully, quickly, and without hesitation; for there is no grace in a benefit that sticks to the fingers.”—Seneca

One of my fav easy act of kindness is feeding parking meters in a busy area. It's great for those people who's meter is empty or about to run out. It's also nice for those who park and don't have any change for the meter. And even if they do it puts a smile on their face.
Meter feeding has triple power! Professor Adam Grant talks about a revolutionary new approach to success in business and in life at an Action for Happiness event in London on 19 May 2013. Don't you just love it when people smile at you? Everybody does because it's like a little hug. A smile says: YOU MATTER!
You can give your smile away a million times and still have it to give again tomorrow. So, why not give out more smiles? Often people pass each other and look right into each others eyes but make no effort to acknowledge each other. Why? Because they expect the other person to smile, wave or speak first. Who made up that "Rule?" I say: "GO FIRST!" Be the the one who initiates the first smile. The results will be astounding! just watch! I've always admired Mother Teresa and how she taught kids to be happy in the midst of squalor
"People are often unreasonable, illogical and self centered; Forgive them anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives; Be kind anyway. If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies; Succeed anyway. If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you; Be honest and frank anyway. What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight; Build anyway. If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous; Be happy anyway. The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow; Do good anyway. Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough; Give the world the best you've got anyway. You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and your God; It was never between you and them anyway."-- Mother Teresa |
