1 - walk a friend's pet
2 - Pet-sit for a friend 3 - Make nutritional treats for pets 4 - Adopt from a pet shelter 5 - Hang up a bird-feeder 6 - Make a birdbath One of my fav easy act of kindness is feeding parking meters in a busy area. It's great for those people who's meter is empty or about to run out. It's also nice for those who park and don't have any change for the meter. And even if they do it puts a smile on their face.
Meter feeding has triple power! 1. Hold a door open for someone 2. Put change in an expired parking meter 3. Send someone a hand-written card 4. Wave to a neighbour 5. Pick up litter in your neighbourhood or anywhere 7. Clean a seniors walk or yard 8. Help someone start a Facebook page or even a website 9. Invite someone who lives alone out for lunch Professor Adam Grant talks about a revolutionary new approach to success in business and in life at an Action for Happiness event in London on 19 May 2013. Would you like to raise kind kids? Then, be kind. Research shows that if the parents are kind their children are much more likely to be kind.
So, let them see you open doors for people, shovel an elderly neighbours walkway or let someone go ahead of you in line. And, if those you show kindness to don't say "thank you", don't gripe about it. Instead, let your children see you smile. Courtesy and politeness are simple ways to show kindness. BE THE EXAMPLE! And watch them mimic you! One act of kindness is worth a thousand prayers because actions ALWAYS speak louder than words.
It's time to make the pledge again.
During Kindness Week from February 11th to February 17th we will make a special and more dedicated effort to be kind to all people all the time. Here are a few ideas to get you started: 1) Write someone (teacher, friend, lover, employer) a note or even a letter telling them how much you appreciate the positive affect they have had in your life. And, MAIL the letter. What a nice surprise for them to receive. 2) Call a homeless shelter or food bank and ask what you can do for them. Even, 10 bucks can make a difference. 3) Invite someone who lives alone to dinner or bring them a nice home cooked meal. click here for more ideas . What can you give a million times and still have to give again tomorrow?

Newtown's heartbreak has a lot of us asking, "What can I do?" Thinking about this, I took to Twitter and asked people to imagine what would happen if all of us committed to 20 acts of kindness to honor each child lost in Newtown. I added, "I'm in.
